Bend: The McKay Cottage

We started the day like all days should start: Dutch Bros for coffee.

The very nice kid taking our money and chatting us up almost came apart when I asked him where we should eat breakfast.  He literally leaned out the window and collapsed on to the little counter as he described The McKay Cottage  as having the best breakfast EVER.  After going on and on, and giving several sets of directions, he said:  "I'm so glad you asked for a recommendation, if not I was going to tell you anyway."

So, yeah. It was fantastic. Reminded us of McCall: High desert, surrounded by pine trees and an awesome outdoor patio. Locally sourced everything, butter scones served with every plate.. with a small glass container of house made raspberry jam. Monkey's breakfast burrito was "large and delicious" and when he ate the rest of my bacon and eggs, he announced that he was happy and prepared to drive and then get hiking.  (The side potatoes were SO good!)

The waiter was fantastic: fast, nice, interested in our plans for the day but not over-friendly, and gave us house made granola as a first visit gift.

LOVE this place!! Can't wait to come back here! Both to Bend and to this restaurant!!
